Wood
A carved wooden sculpture depicts a seated figure with a radiating halo, a long beard, and a smiling expression. The figure is dressed in flowing robes and sits on a patterned base. The monk Mokujiki travelled throughout Japan, committed to the task of creating one thousand Buddhist sculptures. The simple carving and cheerful expressions of his works give them an approachable atmosphere.(20180710_h14特)" Donor: Gift of Mr. Yoshizawa Sei'ichirō
