Andrea Branzi’s shoulderpiece creates scaffolding atop the wearer’s shoulders. Twisted silver wires stretch beyond the neck and hold a crown of foliage above the head. The design recalls the laurel wreaths Greek athletes and Roman conquerors donned to celebrate victory. Branzi reinterprets this ancient form of adornment noting that this work was “conceived as a symbol for vitality and fertility.” Branzi made this piece in collaboration with Eddy François and Caroline De Wolf, two members of the small Belgian collective Casa Argentaurum. on-view
