Graphite
A graphite sketch depicts a standing cavalier in profile, holding a cane and wearing a hat and military-style attire. Mainly self-taught, Théodore Géricault spent hours before the Old Master paintings in museums. He copied this standing cavalier from Anthony Van Dyck's portrait of King Charles I of England.
