A dark, abstract sculpture is superimposed over a background of brick buildings and windows. The image is a double exposure, creating a layered and fragmented effect. To create this double exposure, Man Ray turned the image of a clothesline full of laundry on its side and superimposed it over a photograph of a sculpture. The juxtaposition creates a sense of confusion and uncertain orientation, as the two separate images vie for position and scale in the dense composition.
