c. 1905
Palisander, satinwood, mirror glass, marble, nickel plated mounts
A dark wood sideboard with a marble top and a mirrored display case above. It features decorative inlay on the doors and nickel-plated hardware. The sideboard, originally part of a larger dining room suite, is impressive for its scale, dark wood veneers inlaid with grapes on the vine in a lighter wood and nickel silver lock plates and keys. It was made in the first decade of the 20th century by one of the leading cabinetmaking firms in Vienna with close ties to the artistic avant-garde of the time. Gallery Not on View The Robert J.
