Porcelaneous stoneware with celadon glaze
A celadon glazed stoneware tea bowl with a wide mouth and a small foot. The glaze is a pale green with subtle variations in tone. Even the Chinese, renowned for their great ceramic tradition, admired Korean celadons of the Goryeo dynasty for their beautiful translucent blue-green glaze. Japanese tea enthusiasts also admired the often imperfect, misshapen quality of Korean wares. Gallery Not on View Gift of Alfred F. Pillsbury
