Stoneware with blue glaze and purple markings
A blue glazed stoneware bowl with purple markings is shown from a top-down perspective against a neutral background. This small bowl is a striking example of the type of thick, rich opalescent blue with purple splashes that gained popularity at the court of emperor Huizong (r. 1101-1125). The suffused glaze has an exceptional sense of depth and radiant sparkle. Gallery G204 Gift of Ruth and Bruce Dayton
