A ceramic bottle with a flared neck and bulbous body is decorated with a stylized fish and lotus design in dark brown underglaze. Horizontal bands encircle the body and neck. Two mandarin fish are painted in underglaze iron-brown. The entire vessel was first brushed with white slip. Horizontal lines were incised to divide the vessel into sections. The fish design is drawn dynamically across the wide central section. The expression of the lotus branch stretching out from the mouth is quite humorous. The bottle was produced at a kiln at Hakbong-ri on Mount Gyeryongsan in Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do. Provenance: Gaeseong area Location: B
