Baekje Kingdom
Metal - Gilt-bronze
A decorative gilt-bronze ornament with intricate openwork and a mountain-like silhouette. The object shows signs of age with green patina and some discoloration. This ornament was excavated from Jungsangchong Tomb in Neungsan-ri, Buyeo-eup, Chungcheongnam-do. It displays symmetrical cloud-like patterns, and its esthetic quality was further enhanced by etching patterns along the edge. Gold accessories like this were used to adorn the front part of a crown. Thus, it is presumed to have formed part of the adornments used for the headgear of the rulers of the Baekje Kingdom. Provenance: Buyeo-gun Accession number: Bongwan6209
