Ceramics - Celadon
A ceramic vase with inlaid decoration of two fish within circular medallions, surrounded by stamped patterns and incised lines. The vase has a bulbous body that tapers to a narrow foot and a short neck. This prunus vase dating to the early Joseon period exhibits characteristic elements reflecting the transitional period from celadon to buncheong ware. Its overall appearance retains the influence of celadon with inlaid designs from the late Goryeo period, while the stamped surface decoration and light gray glazing suggest the arrival of a new ceramic style. There is a simple lotus band around the shoulder of the vase with another inlaid band in a vine pattern beneath it. Location: Buncheong Ware and White Porcelain Exhibition: Buncheong Maebyeong with Inlaid Fish Design Accession number: Deoksu253
