Two ceramic ocarinas, one black and one red, are displayed on a textured surface. Each ocarina has multiple finger holes and a tag attached with white string. Ocarinas (2), ceramic, maker unknown, [Vienna, Austria], 1880-1960. Ceramic bodies, fluted with eight finger holes. (-1) painted black; (-2) painted red. Seal on (-1) painted over but "Vienna" is visible 'Eccentric' musical instruments were a feature of the Jandaschewsky's performances. Whistles like these ocarinas were often hidden in their clothing and sounded at surprising moments. The Jandaschewsky family collection was kept together by the last remaining family member, Arthur 'Jandy' Jandaschewsky. During the last years of his life 'Jandy' sold the collection to his friend John Anastasiadis. Mr Anastasiadis kept the collection
