Chair, 'Cone', aluminium / steel / silk, Marc Newson, Sydney, Australia, 1986 The chair is constructed from aluminium sheet and steel rivets, and consists of a conical form with the apex centrally supported within a hemispherical shaped base on the floor. The cone shape widens as it rises from the floor to provide a deep, curved back. The front section of the cone has been cut away and a seat formed. The back curves outwards at the top to form an overhanging, everted 'rim'.
