A wooden armchair with a cane seat and back is shown from the front against a white background. The chair has straight legs and arms. Chair and footstool of cane with [coachwood] frame;the chair with cane shell framed with wooden toprail and shaped and curved back uprights and seatrails. Curved wooden armrests on shaped and tapering front legs with stretcher. Bowed back legs with two stretchers, the lower one angled. Rectangular footstool of cane framed with wood on four wooden legs with tapering inner edge. This chair was designed by Bernard Jones in about 1954, while the coachwood and cane footstool was possibly designed by George Korody, founder of Artes Studios. During the 1940s and 1950s, Australia benefited immeasurably from the immigration of many designers
