A World War II propaganda poster urges viewers to contribute to the war effort by buying war savings certificates. It features military equipment like tanks, artillery, and airplanes. Born in Toronto, A.J, Casson was a founding member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour (1925). In 1926 he was admitted to the Group of Seven (Franz Johnston having withdrawn). Although noted for landscapes, he also contributed military paintings that now repose in the Canadian War Museum's War Art collections. In 1956-57 he designed postage stamps honouring the Canadian paper and mining industries.
